Easy 5-minute Hummus

Hummus makes for a perfect dip! Rich tahini, tangy lemon juice, and fragrant garlic along with the right amount of olive oil and spices gives hummus the perfect balance of savoury and satisfying.
This recipe comes together in no time and is so much better than any store-bought version. Enjoy it with our simple crispy falafel, or just like that straight from the bowl with some veggies and bread. It's no wonder that hummus has become a beloved staple around the world, a delicious and healthy snack that never fails to satisfy!

Ingredients

  • 1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed (400 g net weight)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2-3 tbsp tahini
  • ½ tsp salt (add more to taste)
  • lemon juice of half a lemon
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 5-6 tbsp (about 60 ml) water (add gradually until you get desired texture)

Garnish (optional)

  • 1 pinch paprika powder
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil
  • a couple chickpeas

Instructions

  • Drain canned chickpeas.
    If you want your smoothies to be extra smooth and have a little more time, you can peel the chickpeas by squishing them in a bowl of water. We usually don't do this.
  • Add all ingredients to your blender or food processor and blend until creamy. Add little sips of water to get to the desired texture.
  • Garnish with chickpeas, olive oil and paprika powder.

Storage

  • Store in a container and cover the surface with oil. Refrigerate for a couple of days, or freeze for later.
