Homemade Tomato Salsa (aka Pico de Gallo)

Ingredients

  • 3 medium tomatoes, roughly diced and stems removed
  • ½ red onion, roughly diced
  • 1 avocado, cubed
  • 1 Lime, juiced
  • 1 handful Cilantro, roughly chopped
  • ½ tsp salt, more to taste
  • ½ tsp pinch oregano
  • 1 clove garlic, grated
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • spicy sauce to taste

Instructions

  • Chop: Roughly chop tomatoes, onion and cilantro. Cut Avocado in small cubes and set aside.
  • Blend: Add all ingredients except the avocado in your blender or food processor. Blend in a pulsing manner for a couple of seconds (count to 3 and check on the texture and repeat until onion and tomato are crushed to small pieces, but before they turn into one liquid sauce).
  • Serve & Store: Pour the mixture onto a deep plate or bowl, now add in diced avocado and gently mix. Serve with your favourite dish or enjoy with tortilla chips. You can eat this Salsa straightaway or keep refrigerated for a couple of hours.
    Consume within 1-2 days.
